Five legends, five legacies, one powerful celebration of artistry, mentorship, cultural preservation, and social change.
1. Charles Ssenkubuge was given the Cultural Mirror Legacy Award for his exceptional contribution to Ugandan playwriting and vernacular theatre as a cultural storyteller.
2. Halima Namakula got the Impact Legacy Excellence Award in recognition of her extraordinary five-decade contribution to Uganda’s creative industry humanitarian impact.
3. Sarah Ssentongo Kisawuzi got the Screen Legacy Actress Award for her outstanding lifetime contribution to Uganda’s film and television industry.
4. Andrew Benon Kibuuka got the Theatre Legacy Mentorship Award for his distinguished service, leadership, and mentorship in Uganda’s performing arts sector.
5. Aloysius Matovu Joy (Joy Matovu) was given the Humanitarian Legacy Change Award for his courageous and transformative use of art to advance social change, HIV/AIDS advocacy, and human rights.
