#IjuruStories: Tell the Story of an Ijuru Café Experience on Muwado and WIN!

There’s a moment that happens at Ijuru Café. Someone walks in, probably still catching their breath from a Pilates or strength class next door, orders something and sits down in the calm. They slow down. They stay longer than they planned. Refuel, reconnect and lock in for work.

We want a storyteller in that seat.

This is an open call to Muwado storytellers – writers, audio storytellers, photographers, and comic artists. Visit the café, order what calls to you, and tell the story of what happened in your own voice and medium of choice.

The Experience

Ijuru Café is a wellness café inside a community of movement, health, and mindful living. It was built on a simple belief: healthy food and speciality drinks should be exciting, beautiful, and accessible. The menu runs from nourishing meals and premium coffee to matcha and high-protein options – food for people who want to feel good after eating, not just while eating.

The signature drinks for this campaign are among the only ones of their kind in Kampala:

-Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte

-Iced Mango Matcha Latte

The August offer makes the visit easy: order either matcha and get 50% off any food item with it.

The Power Burrito and the Chickpea Avocado Mash on Sweet Potato are the kitchen’s pride – but the menu is yours to explore.

Your Story, Your Medium

There is no required format. Tell it as:

  • a personal essay or café or food review
  • a wellness journal entry or lifestyle story inspired by the space
  • an audio story or podcast-style narration – the sounds of the café, your voice and reflections
  • a photo essay – submitted as a gallery; the colours of that strawberry matcha deserve a lens
  • a comic – submitted as a gallery; the café through your panels

The best stories will make a reader, listener, or viewer feel they were sitting beside you.

  3. Create your storywrite it, record it, or shoot it. Photo essays and comics go up as gallery submissions; audio publishes through the Muwado audio player.
  4. Title it with the #IjuruStories challenge hashtag and add it to the post tags – every entry’s title must begin with #IjuruStories (e.g. #IjuruStories: The Morning I Discovered Mango Matcha). That’s how we find, track, and judge entries.
  5. Publish and share once it has been approved, then share it everywhere…
  6. Drop a comment below this post with a link to your submission.

How Winners Are Chosen

Reach – how far your story travels: views and engagement on the platform.

Composition – the craft of the story itself: how well it’s told, in whatever medium you chose.

This means half the score is already in your hands after you publish. Share your entry widely – every reader you bring is a point in your favour.

We’d Love You to Capture…

Tell your own story, but consider weaving in some of these elements naturally:

  • Your first impression of the café.
  • The calm atmosphere, calm, welcoming and good for work
  • The feeling of stepping into a space designed for slowing down.
  • The connection between the café and the surrounding wellness community.
  • What surprised you.
  • The flavours, textures and presentation of the food and drinks.
  • Why someone might choose Ijuru over another café.
  • Moments that made the experience memorable.

Your table is waiting, and we can’t wait to read your stories 🙂
