There is something exciting happening in Uganda’s film and television space: more producers are embracing online platforms and making their projects accessible to wider audiences.
For years, audiences have complained about limited access to Ugandan productions, with films and series sometimes hidden behind complicated release structures, limited screenings and other forms of gatekeeping. Now, YouTube is increasingly becoming an important avenue for Ugandan stories to reach audiences at home and beyond.
And there are at least three highly anticipated Ugandan drama series coming our way. If we want to see more Ugandan productions made and released, this is the moment to support them.
1. THE LAST MUGERWA
Kampala’s most feared dynasty is built on secrets and one of them has just become murder.
When billionaire patriarch Mzee Mugerwa collapses after a haunting visit from the ancestors, doctors are baffled. But the truth is darker: someone within his own walls orchestrated his death.
Behind closed doors, alliances shatter, affairs unravel, and a mother’s buried secret threatens to destroy everything. Inheritance isn’t the only thing at stake, the truth is.
With a star-studded cast that also features actors from across East Africa, The Last Mugerwa promises plenty of drama, mystery and intrigue.

2. URBAN SURVIVAL
What happens when life doesn’t go according to plan?
Urban Survival follows three young adults whose lives unravel after financial collapse, betrayal and devastating setbacks force them back into the family home they once swore never to return to.
What was supposed to be temporary quickly becomes a battle for survival as pride, desperation and failure collide under one roof.
Old wounds resurface. Buried secrets emerge. And the siblings are forced to confront broken identities, redefine success and make sacrifices they never imagined.
Ultimately, they must discover whether family is their greatest safety net or their greatest challenge.
With a powerful cast, Urban Survival is one to watch.

3. HOUSE OF ADVICE
Everybody in a Ugandan household has advice. The only problem? Nobody follows their own advice!
House of Advice is an 8-episode Ugandan comedy-drama following the Kasujja family; Mama Nalongo, Papa Kasujja and their three grown children, Amara, Danny and Myra, as they navigate everyday life in Kampala.
From marriage and money to ambition, relationships and family chaos, the series captures the funny, messy and sometimes painfully familiar realities of Ugandan family life.
It is funny. It is relatable. And most importantly, it is deeply Ugandan.
With a cast line-up filled with familiar names and faces audiences are eager to watch, House of Advice is another series worth putting on your watchlist.
