What if your power isn’t in what you create alone, but in what your creation triggers in others? I believe the act of sharing is the root of human progress.
An aspect of the human condition that facilitates creation (and never ceases to astonish me) is every individual’s power to influence and be influenced. We create because someone else’s creation triggered a desire within us to create. We move because others moved. We saw, we heard and therefore we imitate, this is part of a theory philosophers call mimesis. Everything new and old is a result of continuation from a true point of origin too complex to trace.
No one begins from oblivion because we all commence from what was established before us, whether we are conscious of it or not, since we act from example. Our actions jumpstart action in others, which is such a precious trait, and one of the greatest reasons anyone can have to act, to create, to share. Because when we do, we set things in motion.
- Ideas become expression.
- Expression becomes creations.
- Creations become movements.
- Movements become change.
And that (somehow, someway. even in setbacks) advances humanity forward.
This cycle of influence is the hand of innovation in motion, an invisible force that pollinates the mind and ensures that every action births more ideas. Who knows how many things exist simply because you made something, and more importantly, because you shared it.
