Last week, I had the opportunity to speak on NTV at One regarding Uganda’s national budget for Financial Year 2026/27 on how it would enhance our competitiveness in comparison with the other countries across the region reflecting on the attractiveness of doing business and unlock the 10-fold economic growth to USD 500 Billion by 2040.
I highlighted the importance of shifting from policy to action—where every Ugandan, from households to businesses actively participates in wealth creation. The budget’s continued focus on production particularly through agro-industrialization, tourism, minerals, and technology, signals a clear path toward long-term economic transformation.
We also reflected on the broader operating environment including global economic pressures, and what this means for Uganda’s in terms of domestic revenue mobilisation to sustain economic growth and finance government programs.
