Port Harcourt-based journalist Odimegwu Onwumere has once again solidified his reputation as a powerhouse in Nigerian media, securing three prestigious honors at the 2025 Nestle Nigeria Media Awards.
Competing against top talent across the country, Onwumere—a frequent contributor to The Nigerian Voice—took home the first-place prize for his reporting on Youth Empowerment and Development. His versatility was further recognized with second-place finishes in two other critical categories: Nutrition and Affordable Food Solutions and the newly introduced Business and Economy segment.
This latest achievement follows a stellar performance in 2023, where Onwumere dominated three categories ranging from Women’s Empowerment to Community Development. While he was unable to attend the Lagos-based ceremony in December, his awards were officially delivered this January.
Reflecting on his success, Onwumere expressed deep gratitude to the awards committee and his editors. “I am thankful to The Nigerian Voice for providing the platform that allows my work to reach a global audience,” he stated.
Despite the absence of a full official winners’ list from the organizers, Onwumere’s consistent track record highlights the vital role of investigative journalism in driving social change and economic awareness in Nigeria.
