Its never been the same.
the moments that you left
leave tears running down my face.
The pain of a loss;
the joy of your joy.
I only hope I’ll see you again.
After the after song,
the crowd all left.
Your name engraved to it.
The pain of a loss;
the gap left in my heart.
Its never been the same.
Your photos are a loss.
They remind me of the moments shared;
the house whispers your voice.
I run to the pouch,
to watch you write
in your black journal.
Only to find it empty.
Its never been the same.
You truly left an empty
hollow within me.
I hope to meet you again
in the after world – life.
After the after.
When I too, complete
my film here.
Its never been the same
On 30th January, 2022, during a Sunday service back in my Form five at Seroma Christian High School; A student went on to give a testimony about overcoming her parent’s death (can’t recall whether it was her mother or father). As she spoke of how several dimensions and aspects of her life changed, I Imagined myself in similar footsteps. It really saddened me. the thought of how much in my life could change if I lost my parents still troubles me today. Nevertheless, that thought drives me to cherish the moments I share with them. I can’t comfort one who has already gone through that part of life, but to those that haven’t, I urge you to Cherish those around you before it gets to the NEVER.
Asante.
