I travelled all the way from Kampala to Mbarara to surprise her and found her ex boyfriend had come over for the night, oh boy!!

So, how do I start… here we go, about 13 years ago, I met this wonderful girl who put on spects, at first she seemed like she was way out of my league( for a fact she was), that time I was a waiter at Cafe Javas when they were just two branches, we started as friends because Iam certain she also knew I was not in her leaguesbut she underrated one of my biggest strenghs “Being a funny guy”.

Slowly, through friendship, we started flirting, calling each other hun, darling, you know those things when you are still a youngster. Eventually, feelings started creeping in, I started missing her, wanted to talk to her all the time so one day I swallowed a pin and told her how i felt about her, to my surprise she burst into laughter, so i was there there thinking “does she think this is one of my usual jokes? that’s the issue of being a funny guy”.

I started expressing it through actions. Oh, I forgot to mention she had a boyfriend who was with her for 5 years and was planning to move in together, but as a guy in love, I didn’t care at all. Slowly by slowly, she also started feeling zinged, wants to talk to me more, but the boyfriend issue. So one good day (definitely good on my side), they had a big fight, guess who gave her the leaning shoulder to cry on? Yep, you guessed right. So we hit it off and started chilla dating from the fortunate fight.

One day, her NGO transferred her to the Mbarara branch, a big distance yeah? Not at all, not when you are in love. At javas i used to have an off day every Saturday, and I would work morning shifts on Fridays. So at least twice a month, I would go spend my off day with her. Finish my Friday morning shift, rush home, shower, get a boda to the bus park to the Global bus. I would be in Mbarara by 9:30 pm to be with my baibyyy. Go out that night, then spend Saturday together before I head back to Kampala at 9 pm on Saturday, life was good until………………….!!!

I had gone to Mbarara the previous weekend, so the next one I was not expected, but during the week I missed her, and there is nothing I would rather do on my off day than spend it with her, so the drama starts here. I decided to go to Mbarara without telling her. Finished my shift on Friday as usual with the excitement to go see my beloved, during the journey we were texting as usual, asking me what my plans for this off day were, I told her I would sleep in. By 9 pm I was in Mbarara, went straight to her gate and called her number, she picked up, and I told her, by the way Iam in Mbarara, I heard her skip a breath at once, she responded with “What?? for real?? Are you sure?? ” No way you are joking’, so I told her to open the door and peep at the gate (she stayed in staff quarters with a mesh fence and gate so she could see me from the outside of the gate)

Mwana Muwala (Baby girl) opened her door, and I vividly remember the face she made when she saw me at the gate, veryyyyy shocked. She came, opened the gate padlock, and with all the love I had come with, grabbed her, hugged her and expressed how much I had missed her all week I was away from her. But her reaction was more a terrified one, so I asked her what the matter was, babe?? Let’s go to the house. I feel cold.. yeah, the awkwardness started, she said I want to tell you something, hooo, my heart skipped. I immediately knew she had someone over. So she started explaining how her ex came to Mbarara for a conference but asked her if he could crash at hers for the night, and she first refused but later said it’s okay, and she swore upon all the seven Avengers infinity stones that nothing had happened between them at all.

It was such a heartbreaking point, I asked her to open the gate so I could go back, but she refused. So I told her, tell your ex to go sleep at the neighbour’s room( the neighbour was some cool guy called Alex), she started blah blah you know it looks really bad telling him get his things and shift yet he is still my friend, since you are just outside, please sleep at Alex’s, I was like what??????? I first refused, she went and called Alex to talk to me to sleep at his, now it was like 11 pm, no bus to Kampala, so I agreed to go to sleep at the neighbour’s with a plan to leave as early as 6 am. Of course, with her manipulation, she brought her own duvet, her bedsheets for me in Alex’s room and first lay down with me for like one hour, crying crocodile tears asking for forgiveness, saying nothing can happen between her and the ex, and around 1 am she went back to her room to sleep with her ex on the same bed…damn

We had a man talk with Alex about women, at around 6:30 am I woke up, as I was preparing myself to leave she comes to the door Alex opens and she enters and resumed the crocodile false tears, meanwhile the ex had left at 6 am, she begged me for like 1 hour to come with her to her room, weak as women make us, I went and she made breakfast, apologised and swore he didnt even lay a finger on her which i believed (I was so foolish), then in the moment we had that hot make up …, anyway guys Iam sorry to disappoint you we did not break up, I wasnt ready to lose my baiby over some ex sleep over hahaahhaha, I was such a blind young man. Our relationship continued after that, as if nothing had ever happened till she was transferred to Fort Portal. As I said, no distance could stand in my way; I was enjoying being inside the Nigerian bottle, haha. Fort Portal had a story for another day.
