Kiggundu Rodney Art Studio to host 2nd Open Studio

As a way to promote art and creativity in his community Ndejje, Makindye Ssabagabo Community, Wakiso District, Kiggundu Rodney a Visual artist and Muralist residing in Wakiso is using his Art Studio as a rendezvous for different creatives coming from the surrounding communities and beyond to network, share ideas, discuss topics about art, create together, as well as tap into the knowledge and creative processes of invited experienced artists who bear a wealth of knowledge in the art practice and are willing to share it during this get together.

Started in July 2022, the bimonthly Open studio at the artist’s Studio has attracted differrent a number of people from the surrounding community, school going children interested in the arts to learn, get inspired, check out the art done and displayed at the studio as well as be part of the conversations around the relevance of art in building community resilience. Through the studio, together with a team of other young artists that work from there, they also train and mentor other students, young artists in bid to uplift their potential  and help create different opportunities for them to explore and build competence in their respective fields.

 

On Sunday the 18th of September 2022 starting at 2pm, Rodney and his team will host yet again another Open Studio Session at the same studio  in Ndejje Kanyanya (Along Ssemanda Rd. off St. Johns Rd.). Guests will enjoy quite a number of art works displayed besides seeing the creatives dive into their creative processes. On top of having a glimpse at what the different creatives are working on and are upto, there will be a participatory open conversation about the relevance of Art to the community ad viceversa.
