I facilitated a mentorship conversation on personal branding with students from Makerere University, courtesy of the Accounting Students Association of Makerere University (ASAMU), and 2026 could not have started on a more fulfilling note.
I was reminded about 2 of life’s greatest principles including:
– Giving is better than receiving
Sharing tips and / or knowledge based on my experiences boosted my happiness arguably more than the mentees as they nodded to affirm their understanding of the messages shared.
The feeling of having contributed to something beyond me that mattered made be feel like I had put a brick back into the universe.
– When you give, you beget
As I shared from the lessons I’ve learned along the way, it inevitably got me reflecting on my own journey thus far, what could have gone differently and how to forge ahead when things don’t go exactly as initially planned.
As we each concretise on our resolutions / goals for the year 2026, may we also be mindful of what we are going to contribute in the lives of others.
