Publishing on Muwado is straightforward. Follow these steps to get your story live and in front of thousands of African readers.
Step 1: Log in and open the story composer
Log in to your account at muwado.com. Click the Add Story or + button in your dashboard or navigation bar. This opens the Muwado story composer.
Step 2: Write your Story Title
Your title is the first thing readers — and the newsletter — see. Make it clear and compelling. Ask yourself: would a stranger click this? Good titles are specific, not vague.
Example: “Why I Left My Job in Nairobi to Farm in the Village — and Never Looked Back”
Step 3: Write your Story Intro
The intro is your teaser. Keep it to 2–3 sentences that make someone want to read on. This text is pulled directly into the Muwado weekly newsletter, so it is your hook for 10,000–15,000+ subscribers.
Step 4: Write your Story Content
This is your story — your voice, your perspective. There are no rules on subject matter. Write what is true to you. A minimum of 300 words is recommended for full reader engagement and better placement in the newsletter.
Tips:
- Write the way you actually talk — authenticity is what Muwado readers come for
- Use paragraphs, not one big block of text
- Start in the middle of the action — draw readers in immediately
Step 5: Choose your Categories
Select the categories that best match your story. Categories determine where your story appears on the site. Choose accurately — this affects who discovers you.
Step 6: Add Tags
Tags help readers find your story through search and interest feeds. Use 3–6 specific tags related to your topic, location, or theme.
Examples: #Kampala, #entrepreneurship, #mentalhealth, #relationships, #Lagos
Step 7: Upload your Cover Image
Stories with a cover image get 3× more clicks than those without. Use an image that is:
- At least 1200 × 630px
- Relevant to your story
- High quality (no blurry or pixelated images)
Step 8: Submit for review
Click Submit. The Muwado team reviews your story quickly and publishes it. You will get a notification once it is live.
After publishing: claim your free ads
Publishing your first story automatically qualifies you for two free weeks of advertising for any product, service, or project of your choice. Go to the Adverts tab on your dashboard or email [email protected] to claim it.
