How to Gift a Storyteller on Muwado

Read a story on Muwado that stayed with you? You can appreciate the storyteller directly — quickly, and from as little as $1.

Step 1: Read a story

Open any story on muwado.com. Scroll to the end of the story.

Step 2: Find the Gift button

At the bottom of the story, you will see a gift or appreciation prompt. Click it to open the gifting options.

Step 3: Choose your gift type

One-off gift

Send any amount from $1 as a single, immediate payment. Good for when a particular story hits differently.

Monthly gift

Set a fixed monthly amount that auto-charges to your card. This gives the storyteller steady income every month — ideal if you follow a writer whose work you read regularly.

Step 4: Choose your payment method

  • Mobile money — MTN, Airtel, or your local provider
  • Card — debit or credit
  • Pesapal

Step 5: Confirm and done

Your gift goes straight to the storyteller’s Muwado dashboard. They get notified immediately. No middleman taking a cut — your appreciation lands directly with the person who earned it.

Why gift?

Every storyteller on Muwado chose to share their experience, their vulnerability, their perspective — for free. A gift is a direct way of saying this mattered. And it keeps African storytelling alive.
