When the Scales Were Shifted
In days of yore, the cries for rights did soar,
A voice for girls, a chance to explore.
Yet in the shadows, we marginalized anew,
Forgotten souls, caught in the chill.
With dreams unspoken, hearts left unheard,
We learned in silence, not one caring word.
The weight of expectation, heavy as stone,
A struggle for worth, we felt all alone.
While doors swung open for the female quest,
We wrestled with notions repressed.
The world moved forward, yet behind they remained,
In this dance of progress, both spirits were drained.
Now we lean on a fractured bridge,
Without compassion and grace,
An empowered gender,
and another, with little to say.
For true emancipation must include every child,
In unity’s strength, our
futures may reconcile.
