Include National School Feeding Program in the NRM Manifesto to boost Parish development model and protect gains achieved under operation wealth creation.

Parish Development Model is primarily a seed money incentive for mostly rural households in Uganda. Injecting money at grassroots boosts agricultural productivity, stimulates local aggregate demand and spreads the money economy gains.

I think what will supplement the Parish development Model and solidify gains of the earlier Operation Wealth Creation is a School Feeding Program for millions of school going children in Uganda.

The benefits of this are huge for the health and academic profile of children and building of a  future solid human resource capability/brain trust for Uganda — but primarily, this program would boost the farming households like nothing so far!

Imagine the guaranteed millions of eggs children would consume! Imagine the liters of milk that would be consumed every school day! Imagine the bananas that would be supplied to schools every two days a week at-least! Imagine the cabbages, avocados, tons of millet, maize etc. that would be demanded by schools! imagine the price stabilization potential of farms and firms as a result of this program. Imagine the health benefits including elimination of malnutrition in Uganda!

Before I forget, I haven’t followed the progress of NRM manifesto crafting team. Please don’t forget to discuss and perhaps put in place a measure to robustly put-in place and implement a school feeding program from 2026 and beyond. Fellow farmers good times are with us and ahead. Let us support national stability and the current gains.
