Airport screams

The screams at an airport
Jarring,
The ululations at the Entebbe airport often take you by surprise. You question what might be causing distress.
A bomb? A death? An accident? A fight?

The screams at an airport
Tension rising,
As the screams continue from afar, you wonder. Should I be screaming too?
Your skin starts to itch with anxiety. Your nervous system fails you as you walk down the clean silver walk ways of the building.
Pillar after pillar, you walk, leaving the darkness of the parking lot and into the flourescent corridors of the airport. The half frozen air which blows by the lakeside geography of the airport penetrates into your flesh and swirls around your bones like a ribbon.
Questions. Screams. Thoughts. Imagination.

That’s all it was.

The screams at an airport
I missed you!
I love you!
You look thinner!
How are ya?

Where’s mom?
Where’s dad?
Are you coming?
I’m here.
Where are you?
Did you forget?

How else do you know that love exists?
