A bold new Ugandan animated series is in development, and talks are underway to bring it to leading broadcasters across Africa. Titled NYOTA FORCE, the project promises to be a fresh cinematic voice rooted in African heritage and powered by fantasy.
Synopsis
Set in the humble yet vibrant rural village of Kiwunda, Nyota Force tells the story of three young girls; Zuri, Nyina, and Malaika, who are chosen by ancestral destiny to become the Nyota Force, protectors of both seen and unseen worlds. Guided by the wise and witty Baba Tembo and a mischievous mythical spirit housed in the sacred Temple of Nyota, they face magical threats, defend their culture, and grow into the heroes born to lead.
The series is directed by Denis Dhikusooka Junior, a multi-award-winning Ugandan filmmaker best known for Kataleya, which won Best Animation Film at the iKon Awards 2025. Denis, a true creative force with roots in both Jinja and Kampala, has over a decade of filmmaking experience that spans live action and animation. His credits include animated features like ‘Kintu and The Guardian’, and drama series such as ‘Loving Tyra’, where he served as creator, writer, producer and even played the antagonist on screen.
Denis also leads as the Lead Animator on ‘Nyota Force’, joined by producer/director Linda Namwanje, sound designer Norman Dhikusooka (winner of Uganda Film Festival – UFF Best Sound 2025), and a team of animators including Eva Nakamya, Miles Carter, and Poppy Wells.
The cast features Linda Namwanje, Prim Nabwire, and Denis Dhikusooka Jr. himself.
