The ‘silent killer’ is haunting the world by infecting millions of people, it kills by manipulating someone’s mind, people tend to underestimate this disease but BEWARE it could infect anyone in the long run!! Let’s uncover the hidden truth behind this fatal disease.
Most of you might have guessed who the ‘silent killer’ is, and those who have not guessed it yet…the answer is DEPRESSION. Depression can be triggered by severe pain and abuse. Clinical depression occurs when the body has low serotonin levels which might be because of: Genes, emotional abuse and many more.
Students tend to bully each other alot. I remember being called a girl, a eunuch during my school days. Nowadays, bullying has become a trend and people find it cool to bully others. I was emotionally abused everytime, I cried quietly ensuring myself that I can handle the stress. My parents were my strength at these times, sharing with them my problems prevented me from developing depression. I always believe that depression occurs when a person keeps all his pain to himself. The pain needs to be shared with people who care about you. Not only will this reduce your pain but it will also prevent you from getting depression.
35.7% of Kenyans are undergoing depression and on average 317 kenyans commit suicide every year. Depression and suicide are correlated, if a person is depressed he/she would be unaware of what is happening around them and would normally have suicidal tendencies. Depression can be reduced by eating tablets. Moreover, yoga and exercise even help to uplift moods. I would encourage all of you to do all of these.
Depression can be heriditary, if a person has a history of depression in his family tree then he should be extra cautious. Positivity is one of the main cures for depression, just stay positive throughout and ignore nonsense!! I personally feel that each and every person must have undergone a traumatic event that would be too hard to deal with. Now take this advice from the fighter himself(that’s obviously me)
1. DON’T KEEP THE PAIN TO YOURSELF. SHARE IT WITH YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
2. ALWAYS LOOK FOR POSITIVITY. IGNORE NEGATIVITY AND NONSENSE FROM PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT IMPORTANT.
3. REMEMBER PEOPLE TALK NEGATIVE ABOUT YOU BECAUSE YOU HAVE SOMETHING THEY LACK. JUST BE PROUD OF YOURSELF AND STOP ENTERTAINING BULLSHIT THAT COMES IN YOUR WAY.
Thank you very much for reading this, make the most in this lockdown….eat well, sleep well, think positively and throw other people’s nonsense out of your mind!!!
