Our planet is nothing more than a speck in the vastness of space. Our planet is actually a star to other planets. Our planet isn’t even visible throughout most of the universe. And yet, all the while, our planet is the whole world to us. It is home.
This is so comforting to me sometimes. I often find myself staring up into the darkness and I am reminded that being small doesn’t mean being insignificant.
I think it’s really easy to feel small in the world right now.
On one hand, we’ve never been more connected. On the other hand, we’ve never felt further away. On one hand, we’re breaking through incredible barriers. On the other hand, we’re building giant walls. On one hand, humanity can reveal its very best. On the other hand, being human can bring out the very worst.
And it’s hard.
It’s hard to know how we fit. It’s hard to know what to do. It’s hard to feel like we matter in the midst of it all.
But today, as we rise to meet another day, I want to remind you of something…
Just like those beautiful stars, WE…are full of wonder.
And while we are here on this earth, we can be the light in the darkness, we can be the North Star leading the way, we can be the glimmering hope off in the distance.
And yes, sometimes, as we head out to tackle the daunting challenges before us, it’s easy to feel little.
Maybe your words feel like nothing more than a speck in the vastness of space. Maybe you feel like your presence is just a star to someone else’s planet. Maybe you feel like your contributions aren’t even visible throughout most of the universe.
But please don’t forget; being small doesn’t mean being insignificant.
Because that heart of yours, that voice of yours, those hands of yours…it actually means the whole world!

Hi Patra
I liked your piece.Yes we do feel insignificant at times, but we are here not by accident. As David said in the psalms :what is man that He is so mindful of us? We are fearfully and wonderfully made.
