Labongo's Spear

His smile
His smile just reminds me

of how deeply he is lodged in  the deepest confines of my heart
Like Labongo’s spear
that Gipir thrust into the heart of the elephant
that ran away into the deepest pits of the forest;

My heart wanders off into the deepest dungeon of this torment-
Just like Labongo’s spear-

To oust the spear is to hurt
But to leave it lodged  therein is to die!

Between the two options,
I would rather live with death
Because it’s much more sweeter to die for the one you love;
Much more fulfilling to love him in a phantom haze-
Than to see his eyes smiling for another
His lips curling to call another-
Another that isn’t you.
