While in the hills one day, on my trod for revelation and research, a man came in and looked at me intently; to be exact, at what I was wearing on my hands and around my neck.
In bewilderment, he asked the Omutaka; “Jjaja, ono ani atatya kwambala Nsimbi za buwangwa bwaffe emisana ttuku? Atte nga mwagadde. Ssebo, webale butaswaala kuggumiza byaffe”.
The man happened to be a Muslim, and I felt like asking why he didn’t do the same, seeing that he had come to the Omutaka for traditional healing. I decided not to ask.
Fifteen years ago while on another trod at Ssezibwa and Kalagala Falls with a couple of Idren, a van full of people came to the site. They had driven all the way from Luweero to collect water from the falls, most definitely for rituals.
When they saw our hair, one of women exclaimed; “Yiii, kale laba emigwa egyo. Kale singa nange ezo nzirina”. Most of the women had treated hair, so we answered back, almost simultaneously, asking her what was stopping her from growing locks. The answer is usually the same; conformity to societal pressures.
We are not born into Spirituality, Spirituality is born within us, for we are Spirits first, before entering flesh. However, each one of us is born into Culture; the Culture of those who give birth to our Spirit in flesh.I’d suggest that if you choose the Spirituality from another Culture, away from the Culture you are born into, the first thing you should do is to change your Traditional name, especially if it carries Spiritual connotations or genesis.
You must realize that every time your name is called out, not just you hear it, but so do those who were named the same name before you, in the Spirit realm. If you so happen to carry the name(s) of a Nnalubaale Guardian Spirit, think very hard why it was given to you, and what it stands for.
Do you realize that the first thing slave masters, Crusaders and Jihadists did was to force the slaves to give up their Traditional Spiritual names and replace them with European, Arabic and Christian names?
WHAT IS IN A NAME?
To break YOUR SPIRIT, the slave masters debased you by scrapping your name, which happens to be the ID/IMEI of your Spirit in flesh! When your name is called out, what answers back is your Spirit, not the flesh.
That’s why even without physically seeing a person, you can tell whose voice it is when you hear it. “Eddoboozi lyo, guba Mwooyo gwo”. Even those who may not be able to speak, have a voice, they just can’t speak (words).
For centuries, we have lost our Spiritual IDs; To this day, we’re chained to the Spirits of others, through the names we’ve adopted from other cultures.
Do we fully know and overstand the genesis and Etymology of the names we carry? Do we really know where they came from and what/which Spirit(s) they represent?
We do not choose where our Spirits will end up in flesh at birth, and in which culture. After the fact (birth), we have a choice to be obedient to the culture or be disobedient and reject it.
Unfortunately, removing a car logo and placing it on a bicycle, doesn’t make the bicycle a car. Neither does a Dog born in a kraal become a Cow, even if you choose to call it so.
Like Linton Kwesi Johnson once wrote; “The innocent and the fool could pass for twins. But a horse is a horse, and a mule is a mule.Changing your name and adopting the culture of others will never change who you are, or in which culture your Spirit ended up in flesh, unless of course you can re-engineer your creation.”
If we were phones, the Spiritual names we carry would be our cultural IMEI. It’s our chassis number, if we were vehicles. Inputting these name codes in the system instantly shows results of who you are and from whom you hail.
REVELATION 3:16 has an interesting take on this:
16 So then, because you are lukewarm and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.
17 Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked—
18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.
19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.

The Omutaka always insists on teaching us that there’s a lot in written texts that applies in uniformity to all Spirituality.
He says; “Learn from what happened to Israel when they rejected the teachings of their Creator, sent through their cultural Prophets. They continued to live in disobedience. Do you see any milk and honey in Canaan now?”
But look at Nnalubaale, the land your Ancestors left for you, and yet you continue to reject them; your own flesh and blood, like a man who disowns his own child. You no longer have a future here, in the promised land”.
Because we are neither hot nor cold but lukewarm, we have been spat out and thrown out to be devoured by Wolves and all sorts of evil Spirits roaming this land of our forefathers and mothers.
We have been rejected and shall be ejected, for we do not have the anointing, the wisdom, nor the courage and bravery they used to place us here, at the centre of the earth. We shall be landless like orphans.
I choose not to be lukewarm. Whether it is broad daylight or deep in the night, I shall openly confess and pay allegiance WITHOUT APOLOGY, to those who paved the way for my Spirit to be manifested in flesh, right here in the cradle of creation; the land of Nnalubaale.
So, who am I by day and by night, you may ask; I am a Nnalubaale Roots Man.
Who are YOU by daybreak, and by nightfall?
