Eternal Life – Topic 1

Allow me to introduce this topic…

Well, I was one of those people who thought that this eternal life is life after death and it’s something that will happen when I die? A matter of heaven and hell! Was I correct? Absolutely not! Was I wrong? Definitely! Was I far away from the truth? Let’s see about that below…

So, what does eternal life mean to me today according to the holy scripture ? Let’s lay down the facts

1 KNOWING GOD + PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP = ETERNAL LIFE

John 17:3 – ‘For this is life eternal ‘that they (we) might know you the only true God and Jesus Christ!’

Knowing someone is having knowledge about this person eg if you ask a girl, ‘Tell me about your best friend or boyfriend?’, they will probably not stop. They will tell you who they are, why they love that person, what that person has done for them … I’ve been thinking this is it? Eternal life is when you’re that passionate about this God relationship, you talk and can’t even stop.

*God build this desire in me today, to know you and to receive this eternity that is already availed to me*

2 ETERNAL LIFE IS FOR TODAY

Galatians 1:4 – ‘Jesus died for us that he may deliver us from this present evil age!’

Knowing God today (having eternal life ) helps us to deal with the struggles we face. This intimate relationship enables us to break through to the victory Christ won for me and you even in the times when things are not clear. This is the hope we carry.

3. IT’S MORE OF QUALITY THAN QUANTITY

So as we’ve read above, eternal life is being in an intimate relationship with God. A love relationship where Jesus loved us first and wants to give us abundance. It’s more of a quality (a certain kind of life we can’t obtain from any other source) and not just quantity (living forever some day) .

Scriptural Evidence:

1 Corinthians 6: 16-17 – Knowing God means being intimate with HIM. If you join yourself with the Lord, you shall become one spirit with him!

Eternal life is available today. 1 John 5:13 – If you have the Son, you have life.

God desires a personal relationship with you. Rev 3:20 – He shall knock, will you open?

Thanks for reading. I remain…
