Two days ago I sent an email (one of many) to a certain company asking them if 40/40 could tap into their CSR budget this year. This was the response I received today;
“Thanks for your email.
I will be very honest with you that the business focus for *company X* is not CSR at the moment but rather selling opportunities. I therefore canāt spend my small marketing budgets towards charity.”
This reply was like a breath of fresh air, possibly the best ‘rejection’ I have received in this line of work.
I am so accustomed to being tossed around, asked to set up a meeting with a superior who then suddenly goes on leave abroad, reappears but won’t pick his phone calls and then if we meet accidentally, he will make some absurd remark like, “What happened? You never came.”I have heard the story of let us look at our budgets and get back to you far too many times (and they never do) yet all I want, all we really need is an honest “NO.”

Yes is good but a No is not the end of the world.We are well aware that not every door we knock at shall be opened but must you be so brutal as to lead us on for weeks, sometimes even months and lack the courtesy to come clean when chances are slim (if they were ever there to start with)
We are well aware that not every door we knock at shall be opened but must you be so brutal as to lead us on for weeks, sometimes even months, and lack the courtesy to come clean when chances are slim (if they were ever there to start with)? Integrity is quickly becoming as rare as rain in the desert.It is sad that most perpetrators think they are just ‘doing us a favour’ by even considering us, but it shows exactly what kind of man or woman one is if honesty is that difficult to come by.

This goes for any relationship or business partnership. Did I mention karma is watching and sipping some chai mukalu right beside us?
Where was I? Yes. Dear honest human beings, it might be the road less travelled but that means it is quieter and less cluttered too, no?
Muwangale!
