WEEK OF LOUNGE

Hola,

The month of June has started with some ecstasy, owing to the fact that the first week has only approximately 3 working days (for those that work up to Friday) and 4-5 working days for those that work over the weekend. Mind you, the following week commences on Tuesday, thanks to 9th June. Tell me that isn’t an ecstatic way to start a new month ;). As the working days are cut short for this week, I’d like to take you through a few “things” you could do to fully embrace the week of lounging, ha-ha;

One safe way to enjoy the “Week of Lounge” is by getting your ribs cracked (not literally). Laughing has always been one of the most well-known stress and emotional pain relievers. Laughing for the right reason, yes, the right reason, can uplift your spirits. Why right reason! Because some folks laugh for the wrong reason, like when you steal your sibling’s piece of chicken (Elder brother No. 2, I haven’t forgotten what you did). Looking for a good laugh, then sweat no more. LIVE AT THE STORK has something cooked up for you; hosting performing acts such as INNOCENT I.Q. (the comedian), Gad Accordion, and Andrew Onen. What better way to say it than to see y’all at the front row.

Speaking of cracking up your ribs, in African Traditional Society (ATS), stories and jokes were told around a bonfire, either at home or in the wilderness. If you and your crew are up for the experience latter, then this KABALE L. BUNYONYI expedition is for y’all. Imagine telling stories and jokes on a boat ride through 29 islands; that’s something you don’t get to experience every day. However, one thing’s certain: jokes and stories told when you’re in the wild with your peeps hits different. Something you ought to experience. 😉

DID YOU KNOW?

Rukundo Egumeho means or is translated as “Let love prevail”. This phrase originates and is used by the Bakiga people of Western Uganda as a cultural expression to uplift love, peace, and tranquillity in their communities. The forthcoming edition is a special one, in that, it’s an anniversary edition celebrating 10 years of cultural exhibition and diversity. As Africans, we ought to embrace our roots just as our ancestors did so as to preserve cultural authenticity and heritage. Our Ethnicities and cultures are our identities to the world. “Rukundo Egumeho”, get those dancing shoes cleaned up.

As we are on the topic of identities, let’s talk music. A DJ’s identity I believe has something to do with his branding and the type of genre he is mostly known for playing. For instance, Electronic music or Electronic Dance Music (EDM) is basically a compilation and/or fusion of music genres that employ electronic musical instruments, circuitry-based music technology, and software, or general-purpose electronics in its creation. If I am right about DJs and their identities, then I have hit a bull’s eye. HOLA JEFE is a professional disc jockey and event manager currently residing in Kampala, Uganda. In addition, he is known as one of the leading DJs in the East African electronic music scene. His sound collective, SOUL TRI3E, has been his channel for orchestrating some of Uganda’s most prominent electronic music events in Kampala and throughout East Africa, events like; Sacred Spaces, Uhuru Muziki, Open Air, Afrodisiac, and Sonic Sanctuary, to mention a few. Nonetheless, did you know that too much yap dilutes the soup, so why not get down to BUNGEE UGANDA-JINJA and experience what he has to offer at the ELECTRONIC MUSIC SHOWCASE.

As the week ages, we get to prepare adequately for every showdown and hip swinging event the week has got to offer, lest we forget it’s the Week of the Lounge. You don’t get this type of week every year with two public holidays in one week, thus making it a special one for the books. When I am done delivering this to my boss, and I hope he reads it, I am going straight to iron my “Sunday’s best”. Owing to the fact that my week officially ends on Monday. SORRY BOSS!! 🙂

Until next time, I remain…

Yours truly,

-ThiWordknight-
