The Boy From the Other-side

The Boy From the Other-side

I stand at the other-side

And call out loud.

A heart of love possession

Where love is sufficient unto love.

The echo in my voice bounces back at me

Like a scream in a dream

That doesn’t go farther then mouth which makes it

I am tongue-tied.

My effort is like a crippled chick

That chases a flying eagle.

Oh, flying eagle of my pain…

How long will I have to wangle my helpless hurt to get to you?

How long will I have to wait till my lips a kissed to the full?

Till I quench my thirst to fill your love?

To break the niche with a sigh of

The boy from the other-side

Speaks to me of Love.

He raises his head and looks upon the people, and there falls a stillness upon all.

The sword hidden among his pinions wounds me with wonder.

His voice shatters my dreams into himself like a wasteful virgin garden.

For even as love crowns, so shall he crucify me.

Even as he is for my growth so is me for his pruning.

Even as he ascends to height and caresses my tenderest branches that quiver in the sun.

When shall he ever descend to my roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth?

I call in anticipation,

For the boy the other-side,

To gather into myself like sheaves,

To thresh my nakedness and free me from my husks.

Will he, grind me to my whiteness and knead me until am pliant?

Assign me your sacred fire,

Dear boy from the other-side!

That you may become sacred bread for God’s sacred feast.

Do unto me that you may know the secrets of the heart,

Yee knowledge become a fragment of Life’s heart.

Do not, boy from the other-side,

Send me to the seasonless world

But draw me near –

A heart of love possession

Where love is sufficient unto love.

Love that has no other desire but to fulfil itself.

Dear boy from the other-side,

If you must love, melt me,

Bleed willingly, joyfully,

Awake at dawn

And draw me near –

A heart of love possession

Where love is sufficient unto love.
