Hola,
When you walk the streets, you meet people from different walks of life. People with good intentions, bad intentions and others with no intentions at all. The no intention doers always have their eyes and ears to the routes, nothing passes them without noticing, plus, they know the best kafundas in town. Recently, one took me on a molokonyi (Kigere) expedition and i tell you, I am not entirely sure that I was eating what we were meant to eat. The soup, the taste, the ambiance was also a stand alone factor. But before we go any further, let’s see what this week has in store for us;
THE ART TIDE
Born in Mukono district in Uganda and raised in a predominantly female household, SOLOMBI BENJAMIN yields inspiration for his pieces from the unique mannerisms and strengths of the women around him. He is an artist renowned for his semi-realistic oil paintings that effortlessly blend abstract concepts with eye catching textures. He handles themes of grace, resilience, survival, and community, particularly through the lens of matriarchal authority. If you haven’t had the chance of gazing upon his mastery, then say less and get to the Nommo Gallery.
THE LIMBO
There are quite a number of benefits attached to dancing as an activity, it goes without saying; it helps eliminate the nature of “two left feet” on the dance floor if you catch my drift 😉 , Other benefits may include; cardio workout for your heart and also on the plus side, all the honies could be yours dear gents. To my fellow members of the “Two left feet” fraternity, UGANDA DANCE NIGHTS are here to avert our problem. 🙂

RED, YELLOW GREEN AFFAIR
Characterized by its offbeat, syncopated rhythm, often with a strong emphasis on the offbeat Reggae originated from Jamaica in the late 1960s, building upon the foundations of earlier Jamaican genres like ska and rocksteady. Some of the most known reggae artist include; Bob Marley, Toots and the Maytal, Lee “Scratch” Perry and The Wailers to mention a few. To the reggae fanbase, REG9AE FEST is here.

INNER GROOVE
When growing up, I was told that anything that gets to the inner you is not healthy for you spiritually, physically, mentally and/or emotionally. Nonetheless, they did forget to talk about the inevitable impact of music to one’s body, mind and soul. If it’s playing and doesn’t get to you, tune it up. On the other hand, soulful music gets its claws deep in you and before you know it, your ancestors are jigging along. The SPIRITUAL GROOVES is ready to tickle that feeling in you. 😉

Back to my Kigere expedition, I have never tongue felt soup so tasty, meat so tender and soft and an ambiance fitting the perfect kafunda spot for all cuisines traditional. Accompanied with boiled cassava and avocado, that plate of food stood no chance against the crushing power of my human jaws. Oh yes, I entered a food coma afterwards.
Until next time, I remain…
Yours truly,
