#MyMoment Rotaract Ladies Initiative Challenge for Stories on Women's Pivotal Life Moments

Dear Women in Rotary and Rotaract Uganda,

Hope you are well and surviving the worst of covid. We are here with news that we hope can give it a bright spin. This July 2021, The Rotaract Ladies Initiative (ROLI) will be running the #MyMoment Challenge.

#MyMoment Challenge

With this challenge, we want to read about your life-changing moments. Those moments you can look back to and be like, yeah, that moment in my life had a huge impact on the person I am today and my current life circumstances.

It might even be just a life-altering realisation or epiphany you had based on new information you learnt and this changed the way you did things and lived your life for the better.

Stories have always been an important part of our traditions as a people and we want to use this competition to get as many inspiring stories from women out in the public so more ladies can learn from your lives. The story can be about your career, family, friends, culture, identity, religion, ideology or any of the categories you find on the Muwado Add Post page.

We are looking for non-fiction stories here but we also realise that some of these stories might have some confidential information so we are cool with some of the details being fictionalised to protect other participants in these stories. You know what, feel free to write complete fiction as long as it still meets the key elements of a female lead and a life-changing moment/realisation.

And even though this challenge is being run by the Rotaract Ladies Initiative Challenge District 9213, we welcome submissions from women from all over the world, whether you are in Rotary or not.

How To Participate

To participate, these are the simple steps you will have to follow:

Step 1:

We are giving it a week for the word to get around and for you to think of and start composing your #MyMoment story. You will be able to start submitting your entry on the 8th of July 2021. Anything submitted before that will not be considered.

Step 2:

If you don’t have one already, create an account on Muwado. If you are in class and already have an account, simply login.

Step 3:

Go to the Submit page and start uploading your #MyMoment entry.

In order for it to be recognised as an entry, MAKE SURE the tag #MyMoment comes right before the title of your post, and that you also add it in the post tags – as we have done with this one. If this is not done, your post will NOT be considered.

NOTE:

• You can always edit the post if there is something you’d like to add/remove.
• If submission gives you a hard time (our beta platform still has some bugs), email us your submission [email protected] and we’ll help you upload it.
• You are encouraged to add a small bio at the end of your post so the readers knows a bit about you.
• You are also encouraged to add a featured image to improve the appearance of your entry.

Step 4:

Come Saturday 31st July 2021 at midnight, the submission window will be closed and anything submitted after that will not be considered. We shall then go into the judging and tallying process to determine the winners.

NOTE: Judging will be a mix of:

• Post virality (Views, shares, upvote/downvote score, number of comments)
• Quality of the submission (typos, grammar, creativity)

Step 5:

By Friday 06th August 2021, the winners will have been announced.
