Quoting monitor scribe and arts enthusiast Kaggwa Myga Andrew, “The creative industry of Uganda will not be saved by associations, but by the people ready to take matters into their own hands”

That’s the only hope for growth in my opinion too. Stuff is for reaching and taking.

I am happy knowing someone is looking out for my next release. Thank you!

Uncle Mo is a nickname that was given to me by someone I used to tease calling “auntie”, Damalie Busingye, about 8 years ago. No one calls her auntie anymore, but mine “unfortunately” stuck.

I really would have wished to be called cool stuff like Michael Jackson or Ziggy Dee, but that nickname had proper stuck so I used it as my stage name.

I was idle, that’s a fact. And already had the idea to do this for years.

The channel was only started coz a one Diana Ringtho, who’s my partner told me she could help me make videos of reviews for concerts I used to do on my Facebook page. A friend, Deon Sekiranda was the first person to tell me i should go for it.

Damalie Busingye wrote my first two scripts and I started. I had no idea what I really wanted, but am glad we are here.

My parents would only listen to it coz I had a job.

But trust me I can’t wait for it to pay more than my day job so other parents and young people can feel different about talents in this country.

It would make me happy to achieve that.

      The biggest win is influence.

Hahahahahaha stop being funny now ??

Priority is the garage and writing scripts. My channel has 16 videos now, but I have 7 scripts that never got acted.

Everything else is secondary to those two.

I studied Engineering, at Kyambogo, graduated 2012.

My inspirations comes from everywhere ?. It’s too many places. And yes the garage is one of them.

But in this trade, after someone says something silly, you look for the funnier way they could have said it. When they watch the video they never even realize they gave birth to the joke???.

      I rarely show when pissed.
The only time I show is when I have a bad team player. I don’t enjoy clumsiness on my team. ??? Both for garage and for the art. I don’t like people that do half attempts period. It makes me climb up a wall backwards.

Love Faces, Bed of Thorns, In the Neighborhood all Ugandan movies. Shows like Deception, Power of Legacy, both on NTV, Coffeeshop on Urban TV and a couple of stage productions.

I enjoy acting. When the role and script are right, am always excited to jump on. So yes that course of things is still active. I hope for a challenge at a bigger space.

My favourite joke is in the video called “My opinion on the Ham Vs DTB saga”. It was an improvised line, “Before the case you lost” I laughed till tears came. Right there on set, they just cut it out.

Three international guys, Jon Stewart, Chris Rock and Trevor Noah. In Uganda I adore the strides guys like Salvador, Kansiime and Pablo have made. Those guys are big acts in the region and it takes A LOT of hardwork. I hope to work that hard.

First am very glad you follow my content. And I shall tell you the same thing some guy Moses Serugo told me, JUST START.

Funding is very complicated, but it’s easier if you can first get a concept easy to sell. A crew would be very happy to subsidize or partner.

I partnered. My crew is one person, she came on as a partner, I sold the idea to her and promised we would make money ???, then she said yes. Lucky for us, a month ago the channel got monetized. So now we can only work as hard as we can.

Otherwise you have no choice but to buy equipment.

The first thing is the press/media. It feeds me the stories. Most stories in Uganda are really exciting, but again I can’t come to tell you something you already know. So I look for “third eye” inspiration. If I can come up with an angle not exhausted by the press I start writing around it. This angle is the “art”. If it don’t come to me, the story in just exciting, but useless to me??.

Then I write, I script everything. My DOP, Diana. K. Ringtho demands that. She’s not a fan of surprises, if there’s one, it better be very good ???. I also bounce my script off a few other people. When they say yes we shoot. Then editing starts. This takes a minimum of two days, the last video took 5.

After I feel I have achieved a certain level of growth with this “Makanika from Kireka” guy then I shall sure bounce back for stand-up comedy

I have done stand-up comedy twice. Both were a result of winning the “Rotaract Comedy Fundraiser”. The winner would get to appear on stage for a comedy show. That’s when I got my first tryout. This was about 6 years ago. I wasn’t really sure I would consider diving in. So I never called myself a comedian till 6 months ago when I made the decision to start the YouTube channel.

I am banking on being saved by a hashtag. #FreeUncleMo
But when writing I really try to sidestep some of these “landmines” that could get me into trouble. I try to steer clear of radical politics. Radical politics is quite the devil in this trade.
