If it is going well, like: you sleep peacefully every night; your relationships are harmonized, you have a sense of joy and peace in your day to day living; you are maturing in your mindset and ideologies; you are dropping bad habits and gaining freedom in your mind and body from harmful habits and substances; you are setting goals and achieving them; you are not falling apart in times of adversity; you are growing in love and generosity; your life is getting in order as pertains work, relationships, and finances; and when you look at yourself in the mirror every day, you can confidently say:
“I have joy in my heart. I am at peace with myself. I enjoy life because it is meaningful and purposeful. In the face of trouble, I am able to stand. No matter what comes my way: loss, frustration, difficulty and hostility, I still have hope. There are worse things that could happen to me, that I am afraid of and cannot fathom because they have never happened to me- but if they do, and when they do, I know that at least I have somewhere to begin from. Those might be some difficult things to bear, but I shall have some truths to begin my anchoring process.”
If it is this great, then I rest my case.
But if it is not, then the one you bash is actually the one you need. And the one who blinds you to the truth of the true nature of the one you bash, will be the very one who will suck the life out of your soul. With the enemy, you can be sure of this: You will never win. It is not a matter of “if” you will fall. It is a matter of “when.”
Remember this: everything that the enemy hands you (e.g., apparent freedom from accountability, no restraint, “rights”, choices, etc.) is to end you, and everything that God withholds from you is to protect you.
Choose the one who loves you. Choose God.
