Finding peace in Him

Have you ever had those moments when your child gives so much headache that you don’t understand what is really going on? And when you punish them, before you know it, they are playing and going about their own business?  Then you’re like, oh wow, how fast does one just move on like that?

So, one day I get home very disappointed, I had just received a call from my sons’ teacher who was finding it challenging to teach him. I was like, why would someone give his teacher a hard time? So, I get home bitter, angry and so disappointed in my son. I was ready to punish this little boy for making my efforts difficult and I did. After punishing him my heart still felt bitter and I wondered why. I was struggling to make peace with his past actions.

Then it occurred to me. How many times do we disappoint God and he forgives us, smiles down at us and calls us his chosen? God does not dwell on our past, our sins do not make him love us less. And when we ask for forgiveness he forgives us, gives us peace and a new life.

Seeing my son every day make mistakes but moving on with life every time I talk to him teaches me that I should not cling to the past but focus on what God has blessed me with. Focus on the good things and find peace living in his presence.
