FILM AND CULTURE MARKET 2025 LAUNCHED

Today was the media launch at National Theatre/UNCC to officially confirm that the event is on.

The 4th edition of the Film and Culture Market (FCM) will be from 15th to 17th September 2025 at the National Theatre. Organized by the Kampala Film Development Foundation in partnership with Solacin Media Agency, this year’s edition will run under the theme “The Economic Impact of the East African Film and Culture Creative Economy – Bridging Creativity with Business.”

The event aims to connect creativity with commerce by providing a platform for filmmakers, cultural practitioners, investors, and policymakers to explore opportunities for growth and collaboration in the creative sector.

Key highlights will include:

1. Film screenings featuring innovative storytelling from East Africa.

2. Cultural showcases across music, dance, and theater.

3. Celebrity cook-offs celebrating food as cultural expression.

4. Business forums and pitch sessions linking creatives with financiers and industry leaders.

5. Games and makeup clinics offering interactive experiences.

Over 8,000 participants are expected, including filmmakers, distributors, investors, content platforms, and policymakers from across the region. Attendees will engage in curated workshops, networking sessions, and discussions on vital topics such as film financing, distribution, and policy frameworks.

Godfrey Musinguzi, Executive Director of the Kampala Film Development Foundation, emphasized the event’s impact, noting that it goes beyond creativity to serve as a platform for economic empowerment, job creation, and sustainable growth in East Africa’s creative economy.

Since its inception, the Film and Culture Market has become a leading platform for showcasing regional talent while positioning East Africa as a hub for investment in film and cultural industries. The 2025 edition promises to be a transformative gathering, bridging creativity and business to drive growth across the East African creative economy.
