UGANDAN FILMS TO OSCARS 2026

The Uganda Academy Selection Committee (UASC) is now inviting Ugandan filmmakers to submit their feature films for consideration in the Best International Feature Film category of the 98th The Academy Awards (Oscars), scheduled for March 2026.

The UASC, officially approved by the Academy in 2019, is the body mandated to select one Ugandan film each year to represent the country in this prestigious category.

To qualify for consideration:

– The film must have been produced outside the United States of America.

– The dialogue track must be predominantly in a non-English language.

– The film must have had at least a seven-day consecutive theatrical run in Uganda between 1 October 2024 and 30 September 2025.

Submission Process

Ugandan filmmakers whose films meet the criteria may submit entries in one of the following ways:

Digital Submission

Via the official UASC FilmFreeway portal: https://filmfreeway.com/uasc

Deadline: 24 September 2025

Physical Submission

Submit three (3) copies of your film (preferably on flash drives) to the UASC offices at the National Theatre, Kampala.

Deadline: 24 September 2025

A submission form will be provided and completed at the office as confirmation.

The UASC will review all submissions in accordance with Academy regulations. The selected film will be officially announced on 29 September 2025.
