Whether you’re a seasoned storyteller or just starting, our Chain Story Challenge invites you to join a dynamic, cross-cultural storytelling adventure. A tapestry of stories woven by gifted African writers, each adding their unique flair to ever-evolving narratives. Collaborative storytelling at its finest and funest, unpredictable, creative, and deeply rooted in the richness of African culture.

What is the #MuwadoChainStory Challenge?

In this challenge, Muwado storytellers take turns contributing to ongoing narratives, building on the work of others to craft stories that surprise and captivate. Each addition shapes the story’s direction, blending diverse perspectives into many thrilling tales. With over 2,400 stories already on Muwado (and growing daily), there’s no shortage of narratives to jump onto to continue.

Objectives

  • Cultural Exchange: Showcase the diversity of African voices, from Lagos to Nairobi, Accra to Addis Ababa, DRC to Mozambique, weaving a rich tapestry of storytelling styles.
  • Creative Collaboration: Harness the power of collective creativity, inspiring writers and readers through shared storytelling.
  • Promotion of African Literature: Amplify African writers, shining a spotlight on the continent’s literary talent.
  • Community Engagement: Build a lively space where storytellers and readers connect, discuss, and celebrate the art of narrative.
  • Story Monetisation: Showcase Muwado’s story monetisation features that enable our creators to earn from their talents and attract advertisers to the platform.

How to Participate

1. Join Anytime: The Muwado Chain Story Challenge is ongoing—jump in whenever you’re ready! If you don’t already have one, create a free Muwado account to submit your contributions. If you hit a glitch, email your submission to [email protected], and we’ll upload it for you. You can always edit your posts after via your profile.

2. Pick a Story, Add Your Voice: Browse Muwado’s 2,400+ stories to find one that sparks your imagination. Feeling adventurous, click here for a random story to inspire you. Add your sequel in any format—prose, poetry, or even dialogue—but be mindful of sensitive topics to foster community, not harm.

3. Submission Guidelines:

  • Start your post with PREVIOUS and include a link to the story you’re continuing.
  • Add #MuwadoChainStory to your post title and tags before publishing.
  • Comment on the original story to notify readers of your sequel, ensuring smooth navigation.
  • This is meant to be a month-long daily writing exercise that you have completed when you finish 30 Chain Stories. Extra marks if you can complete it within a 30-day nonstop streak!
  • You can submit as many times to as many stories as you want, even after finishing the 30. 

4. Engage and Earn: Share your submission widely to grow your audience. With Muwado’s story monetisation, track ad revenue from your post views and encourage readers to gift you if they love your work. Stay tuned for updates on sponsor-driven reward programs and leaderboards showcasing top contributors.

5. Community Support: The Muwado Community Management Team will track narrative threads, promote standout stories to wider audiences, and foster interaction. Check the leaderboard to see who’s lighting up the challenge!
