Hola,
Nothing brings joy to a human like a weekend, especially those that have to sweat for the bills to get paid (WE SALUTE you). We all love to have a good time, lay off some steam after a long back-breaking week. Nevertheless, a weekend comes with a few challenges like; chores, empty pockets or even getting spoiled for choice over what to do over the weekend. Well, I’m here to make the latter a little harder…just a little bit 😉
The beauty about music is that it has no age, it’s timeless and breaks generational boundaries. For instance, some of the music our old folks made us listen to when growing up still has some of us grooving to the beat to this date. If you’re no stranger to the feeling, then look no further than the AFRIGO BAND GOLDEN JUBILEE celebrations. Just a gist of the band; they are the longest active music band in Uganda having been in the industry for over 40years, releasing crowd catchers one after the other. If you’re into some live band action this weekend, then the STANBIC LEGENDS OF SOUND is the place to be.
Talking about some of the ageless joys of life, there’s a tourism trend that has been growing right in the back yard of the streets of Kampala. This trend involves touring the beauties of the city and what it has to offer, get this, on foot. Yes, you read right, it’s a walking tourism trend no need for a four or two wheeler. I bet some of you would probably be intrigued by reading this, and I genuinely hope you do because I have the right event for you, have a feel of KAMPALA TOURISM WALK. The Ugandan Tourism experience doesn’t get realer than this.
There’s a term that has been making rounds on Kampala dance floors, “nyigos”. This is loosely translated to the act of a woman and man dancing in “close proximity” if you know what I mean 😉 . Some look at it as a test for the waist’s flexibility. Honestly, there are some experiences that cannot be told, but need to be “experienced”. Without further ado, Ladies and Gentlemen; THE MOST KILLA-STRICTLY NYIGOS EDITION.
One thing I have noticed about the Ugandan leisure and entertainment industry is that; the vibe and energy in a concert is an experience of its own and it stands alone. Heavy industry hitters laying out their vocals, fine tunes soaring through the wind spreading like a wild fire, and the audience living through the moment to the fullest. If that ain’t a thrill, then I do not know what is. The MAK GROOVE however, is geared up to shake the air waves come 17th August. Expect performances from industry gunners like AZAWI, NAVIO, VINKA and ELIJAH KITAKA. Let’s run the show down.
Speaking of weekends, I think they are the most respected days in every calendar (in my opinion). On the other hand, I think we can all agree that Mondays are the most hated. I won’t tell if you won’t 😉
Until next time, I remain…
Yours truly,
-ThiWordknight-
