Imagine having heaven as your creative source…

I sang a song in my dream. It was a new song. I was also aware that I was dreaming. So I sang it again, and again, trying to memorize it so that I would be able to write it down when I woke up.

I should have woken up and written it down because the words were very fresh in my memory. But, and this is silly, I stayed in the dream to forge verses to go with it! As a non-musician, what was I even thinking?! Because once I started to form the verses, the dream went on longer than it should have. And by the time I woke up, I could not remember the song anymore.

It was a song of worship -beautiful and faith-filled. It spoke to who God was, describing Him in two words that I cannot remember, within that one-sentence chorus. I had no fear as I sang that little chorus. I was in perfect harmony with the source of that song, and that source was all around me. I walk up with that very same confidence and with words on my lips. I was speaking about something which I will also go and note in my journal.

There are many angles to this dream, but I will focus on this one: creativity.

Imagine as a creative, having this experience. That when you go to sleep, you download melodies, lyrics, whole songs, stories, book ideas, and artistic concepts from heaven’s creative repository. You cease to create as a natural man but pick your inspiration from the realm of the Spirit. Imagine how powerful and life-changing your creations would be. Imagine having heaven as your creative source. Can you fathom ever running dry? I reckon that you never would.

If you are a creative struggling with what to create, and grappling with an artistic brook that seems to always quickly run dry, heaven, not weed (marijuana), might be what you’re seeking.

Has God ever given you a song, or idea in a dream? I’d love to hear it! Share it in the comments and let’s encourage one another.
