The 2025 Iskanchi Book Prize

Iskanchi Press has opened submissions for the 2025 Iskanchi Book Prize, an award that celebrates bold, boundary-pushing prose and hybrid manuscripts by African writers around the world. This annual prize champions experimental work that defies stereotypes, uplifts minority voices, and deepens conversations about the African immigrant experience.

Writers who challenge literary conventions and explore underrepresented narratives are encouraged to submit their most daring manuscripts.

The African Liberty Writing Fellowship 2025

This prestigious one-year program is designed to train promising African writers, equipping them with the skills to produce top-quality articles for major media outlets.

Fellows will receive a monthly stipend and the opportunity to have their work published globally.
Admitted candidates take a five-week course in May and June. Top-performing candidates are inducted as writing fellows in July and remain in the program until the following July.

2025 Girls’ Voices Now Application

Our youth development program empowers the next generation of youth from under-resourced communities to find, develop, and use their voice for social change through filmmaking.
As a participant, you will:
– Make a short documentary film! (Check out films from past programs here.)
– Build confidence in yourself & your ability to use your voice for social change
– Participate in essential conversations about women’s rights and gender equality
– Make new friends and build lasting relationships with mentors

Upon full program participation and attendance, a $500 stipend will be provided to participants.

African Literary Prize 2025: Narratives Against Poverty

The African Literary Prize is seeking submissions to be compiled into an anthology. The best three submissions will be awarded prizes. The theme for the prize is: Narratives Against Poverty. It seeks to showcase stories that go against narratives of war, violence, disease, hunger, etc. “Africa must always write its own story, her story of both the rich past, beautiful and dark present.”—ALP

National Geographic Grant 2025 – Freshwater Storytelling

National Geographic Grant 2025 – Freshwater Storytelling invites photographers in all parts of the world to submit their proposals and stand a chance of getting a grant of up to $100,000.

The National Geographic Society seeks submissions from storytellers interested in creating and disseminating content that raises public awareness and engagement of important issues around the sustainable use of freshwater resources.

Rewards
Applicants may request between US$20,000 (Level I) to US$100,000 (Level II) per grant.
Eligibility
RfP will support accomplished and talented storytellers from across the world. A variety of content formats, including, but not limited to, Photography, Film and Video, Mapmaking, Data Visualization, Written Word, Spoken Word, etc. will be considered
