The Uganda Hotels & Restaurants Expo in partnership with the National Culinary Association, Uganda Tourism Board, Ministry of Tourism and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), bring you the 5th Annual Uganda Hotels & Restaurants Expo on Friday 4th-Sunday 6th August 2017.
The theme for this year’s expo is “ Promoting the Local Hospitality, Tourism Industry and Business Investments in Uganda”. The chief guest will be H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. The expo just like the previous 4 successful editions will be graced by Hotel Owners, C.E.O’s, Managers, Chefs, Suppliers in the hospitality industry, investors, Representatives from the Central Government, Private sector, KACITA members, Ministry of trade, Uganda Investment Authority, Local and International media.
The main objective of the Expo is to promote and market services and products to the Ugandan hospitality industry.
(i) Pre-Expo Business meeting
This will take place on Thursday 3rd August at Hotel Africana, 10:00am-12:00 pm. This is a platform that brings together Business owners, C.E.O’s, Hotel owners and other stakeholders. We will have a distinguished panel leading a discussion that focuses on how to grow and promote business investments in the Hospitality Industry.
(ii) Competitions, 6th Aug 2017
a. Chef Cooking Competition
Chefs & cooking enthusiasts under various Hotel/Restaurants establishments will come together to compete. They will each have a selection of items and will be required to cook a delicious meal within a specific time. The best Chef will be rewarded with a return air ticket to South Africa and a shopping bag worth USD 1000.
b. Waiters/Waitresses Relay Competition
This is a Team activity that will involve representatives (Waiters/Waitresses) from the various hotels and restaurants. Participating teams will demonstrate their ability, skill, and precision in setting up dinner tables with the right cutlery and table folds while racing against the clock.
c. Eating Competition.
This is a fun competition reserved for members of the public in celebration of the rich variety of foods on display. The participants will have a specific amount of time to eat a set meal.
(iii) Awards Ceremony
This will take place on the final day of the Expo (6th August). Awards shall be presented to the winners in the following Categories;
• The Best Chef
• Best Waiters/Waitresses Relay Team.
• Best Exhibitor, 2017
